About Gatyatmak Jyotish
Founded in 1975 in Bokaro, Jharkhand, Gatyatmak Jyotish brings a research-led, time-based approach to astrology, now offered through a digital platform and on-call consultations.
The research behind it
Gatyatmak Jyotish is the work of Shri Vidya Sagar Mahtha, born on 15 July 1939 in Bokaro, Jharkhand. His interest in astronomy during his college years led him to question a basic inconsistency: different astrologers often gave different readings for the same horoscope.
Through years of study and thousands of horoscopes, he concluded that planets influence life through their dynamic strength (motion) and static strength (position). He grouped planets into six motion categories relative to Earth:
| Planet motion | Effect on life |
|---|---|
| Very fast and fast | Quick and easy success |
| Normal and slow | Steady and abundant success |
| Retrograde and maximum retrograde | Delays or challenges |
The Gatyatmak Dasha system
In this system each planet influences life for a period of 12 years, in this sequence.
How Gatyatmak Jyotish differs
A comparison of approaches, not a criticism of other traditions.
| Aspect | Traditional and other systems | Gatyatmak Jyotish |
|---|---|---|
| Core approach | Interprets the birth chart through established planetary, sign, house, yoga and dasha principles | Focuses on the dynamic movement and changing influence of planets over time |
| Emphasis | Natal promise and combinations in the horoscope | How planetary influences change and show up at different stages of life |
| Timing | Dashas, transits, progressions or other techniques depending on the system | Gives particular importance to planetary movement and its changing impact on life areas |
| Life analysis | Broad tendencies, possibilities and yogas | Connects planetary influences with observable phases, circumstances, efforts and results |
| Planetary influence | Often assessed through fixed positions and predefined rules | Studies the changing intensity and nature of planetary influence |
| Interpretation | Rule-, combination- or yoga-based | More dynamic, comparative and phase-oriented |
| Practical objective | Understanding personality, tendencies and future periods | Understanding when and how life areas become active, supportive or challenging |
| Validation | Based on the accumulated principles of the tradition | Emphasis on application and observation across birth details and life events |
